In spite of the name, it seems that “GreedFall 2” is actually a prequel to the events that take place in the first game. The announcement from Nacon states, “The story starts three years before the events of the first game and the adventures of De Sardet.” This makes a lot of sense from a storytelling perspective, since the multiple endings from the first game might make it difficult to pull off a canonical continuation.
The announcement also confirms that the story will indeed be centered around a captured native who is forcibly taken to Gascane. “In this old world ravaged by war and scarred by the Malichor plague and the political scheming of the different factions,” the post states, “you must regain your freedom and control of your own destiny. Using diplomacy, cunning or combat, as well as help from allies you make, it’s up to you to end one man’s ambitions of conquest, which could spell the end for the continent and your island.” This seems to indicate that there will once again be in-depth role playing elements and choice-based dialogue that will allow the player to conquer obstacles in a variety of different ways.
